Have you been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease? Not sure where to begin when it comes to modifying your diet?

 

This program will help you understand how the kidneys work, and how you can modify your eating habits to ensure the best kidney health possible.

Diabetes Wellness Program

Are you newly diagnosed with prediabetes, diabetes, or struggling to maintain good blood sugar control?

 

This program will help you learn the fundamentals of diabetes management, and how to worry less about what to eat, and enjoy meal time again.

This program is designed for more frequent follow-ups (2 per month) to ensure you stay on track and meet your wellness goals! (Save $30!)
 

  • What is a Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RD or RDN)?
    An RDN is considered the expert in the field of nutrition. This board certified credential requires at least a Bachelor's degree, along with 2,000 hours of supervised practice, passing a certification exam, and continuing education to maintain registration status. Nutrition is not one-size fits all, and a Registered Dietitian has received specialized training in how to apply evidence based research to help meet your goals.
  • Do you accept insurance? ​
    At this time, I am considered an Out of Network provider with all insurance companies. If desired, you can request a superbill after each visit. A superbill is an itemized receipt documenting your visit with a healthcare provider. If your insurance carrier has out of network benefits, sometimes you can submit this document for partial (or full) reimbursement. However, reimburesment is NOT a guarantee. This receipt may also be requested if you choose to use your HSA/FSA card, and the card company needs additional documentation about the service provided.
  • Do I need to send a referral from my doctor?
    No, this is not required, but it is helpful for your doctor to know that you are working with a registered dietitian. It is also helpful for me to keep your doctor informed by sending updates after each session we complete. In addition, if you are interested in submitting a superbill, it is helpful to get diagnostic coding from your provider so that I can provide a more detailed summary of the services I provide to you. This may improve chances of reimbursement.
  • Do you provide meal plans?
    No, I prefer to empower you with the tools and resources to create your own meals that include your favorite types of food.
  • How can changing what I eat help my kidneys?
    The kidneys help to remove "toxins" or excess nutrients that your body does not need. These toxins are removed through your urine. As the kidneys decline in function, they lose the ability to filter out toxins. When you have Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), the best way to assist the kidneys in maintaining their function is to lower the burden by modifying what you eat. The renal diet is very individualized, and so it is best to start working with a dietitian early-on for the best outcomes.
  • What is a CSR (Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition)?
    This is a board certification through the Commission on Dietetic Registration, in which a Registered Dietitian has performed at least 2,000 hours of practice experience in renal nutrition within the past 5 years, and has successfully passed the 150 question exam.
  • Why should I work with a dietitian if I have diabetes?
    As a Registered Dietitian, I can help you navigate the confusion surrounding eating with Diabetes. Many people with this diagnosis often feel as though they have to think twice before enjoying a meal. Together, we can create habits that will help you to think less and enjoy your favorite foods more.
  • Do I have to stop eating carbs?
    No, together I will teach you about the important role that carbohydrates have in your eating pattern. Yes, carbohydrates are the main type of food that affect your blood sugars, but they are an important part of any balanced eating pattern.
